March to Yorktown Celebration Over 200 people turned out to celebrate the 225 th anniversary of General Washington's march to Yorktown and victory over the British on Saturday, August 26 th at Elk Landing. The weather was nearly perfect for the parade down Main Street and the subsequent gathering of re-enactors and visitors at The Landing. Thanks go out to all those organizations and individuals who helped make the day possible and a success: Fred Allen and the Cecil Militia, Sandy Turner and the Heritage Troupe, The Daughters of the American Revolution, Bruce Leith and Janet Mease for refreshments, Gary Storke and his grounds keepers, The Wilmington Nur Temple Fife and Drum Corp, The Elkton Alliance and the shuttle bus, The Rotary Club of Elkton for funding the project and supplying volunteers to help park the many cars, the Police and Public Works Departments of Elkton, Dean Malissa as George Washington, and last, but certainly not least, the Third U.S. Army Old Guard Fife, Drum, and Bugle Corps which put on a tremendous show both at the parade and at Elk Landing. Thanks to you all! Here are some pictures from this exciting and historic event.
