Quarterly Lecture Series The Historic Elk Landing Foundation, in conjunction with its Events Committee, proudly presents the Historic Elk Landing Lecture Series. Elk Landing has played a significant role in the development of Elkton, Cecil County , and even the United States . From the early Swedish trading post of 1690 to the British invasion of 1777 to the defeat of the British in the War of 1812, Historic Elk Landing has topped the historical headlines. But there was more to life at Elk Landing than commerce and war. There were the people and their every day lives. How did they live those lives? How did they cook, dress, eat, what did they do for entertainment, how did they write? These are just a few of the questions we attempt to answer through the Historic Elk Landing Quarterly Lecture series. Begun in 2005, the series has addressed topics such as 18 th century music, being a soldier in the Revolutionary War, cooking, and gardening. The lectures are held on a Tuesday night at the Hollingsworth House at the foot of Landing Lane in Elkton , Maryland starting at 7 p.m. Details on future lectures are posted below.
