SPECIAL EVENTS!!
Home and Hearth Day September 13
As our young nation elected its third President in 1800, common folks like you and me, were going about their daily chores and jobs much as we do today. However, how they went about those chores and jobs is way different from what we do today. There were no discount department stores, no refrigerators, no furniture stores, and certainly no metal and steel plants. Most people either made their own goods or went to a neighbor who specialized in making them. Check out how a typical farmer and family on the Eastern Shore of Maryland might have produced barrels, candles, horse shoes, yarn, and more at Historic Elk Landing's first annual Home and Hearth Day on Saturday September 13 th between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m . On hand will be a cooper or barrel maker from Colonial Williamsburg, a blacksmith, brew master, sheep shearer, yarn spinner, furniture maker, candle maker, and more. And best of all, there's no need for any gas guzzling travel; you can learn about and experience all of these activities right here in Elkton , Maryland . Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children under 18 years of age.
