Tours of the Hollingworth House and Grounds

Elk Landing is open the first Saturday of each month from April through December for the public to tour the restored Hollingsworth House and grounds. Come for a guided tour and see how the Hollingsworth's lived at the site between 1735 and 1860. You can also tour the grounds and see where the British landed in 1777, where Washington and Rochambeau embarked for Yorktown , Virginia in 1781, and where the British were fought off in 1813. See where ships came to port and where they were built. Even learn about the Swedish trading post and what are believed to be the 300 year old remains of the original Swedish building. Most months there is also a person from the past showcasing a craft or a skill. You may see the militia drilling, a blacksmith, a cooking demonstration, or even an archeologist. Check our calendar here on out web site for updates as to who will be there.

If Saturdays are not good for your group, for a small donation, we will give your group its own blue ribbon private tour. Contact us for more information and if given time, we will supply your own tour guide and historian just in case there are any questions.
